| Of course, before beginning actual play you should
know in advance exactly which betting tactic to use, how much bankroll
you will have, and your precise win/loss limits. If you are a rhythm
roller, you should have also practiced in your room and prepared
yourself mentally before you entered the casino.
When you do play this “Waiting Game,” it’s very important
not to get swept away by all the excitement of craps and “plunge in”
when you think the table is getting hot. Why spend all this time and
money to develop your rhythm rolling skills only to waste your money on
untrained shooters by making foolish bets?
Ideally when you are waiting, you should have a
partner. One of you can bet on the pass line and one on the don’t pass.
You can keep track of these single unit bets separately and settle up
the difference at the end of the session. If you don’t have a partner
this is a safe way to play while you are waiting to shoot or change
table positions. If is a simple hedge method that will cost you very
little to employ.
Make a $5 bet on the Don’t Pass when a new shooter
gets the dice. If the shooter beats you with a 7 or 11, make one more
don’t pass bet. If the shooter wins two in a row, give up and just wait
for another shooter.
When the shooter throws a point, your $5 will stand against it, and just
make a place bet for the same number.
If the point is six or eight, place the point for $6.
If the shooter makes it, you win $7 for the place bet and lose $5 on the
don’t pass, for a net win of $2. If the shooter sevens out, you lose $6
and win $5 for a net loss of only $1.
If the point is five or nine, place the point for $5.
If the shooter makes it, you win $7 for the place bet and lose $5 on the
don’t pass for a net win of $2. If the shooter sevens out, you lose $5
and win $5 for a net of zero.
If the point is four or ten, place the point for $5.
If the shooter makes it, you win $9 and lose $5 for a net win of $4. If
he sevens out your net win is zero again.
Using this simple hedge system, you are essentially
playing the same “waiting game” that you would play with a partner, with
one of you on the do side and one on the don’t.
So, the next time you are stuck at a table position you don’t like,
don’t just throw your money on the layout and hope for the best. Play
this waiting game instead, and you’ll minimize your losses and get a few
comps as well. When you’re in the proper position you can shoot, and
make money on your own skill and abilities. When you’ve finished
shooting and made your win goal, leave the table and let someone else
play the waiting game! |
