How You Can Win on the Don't Pass and Don't Come

| You must survive the come box without the seven
showing to move your bet to a number. Afterwards though, you have an
advantage over the house on any number the shooter rolls. On the four or
ten you are a 2:1 favorite. The five or nine gives you a 3:2 advantage,
and you are favored to win on the 6 or 8 with 6:5 odds. Obviously you
should never take a don’t come bet down as, once you bypass the come-out
seven, you are favored to win every single bet you make. There are
several little known methods to protect your don’t come bet from getting
clobbered by the seven in the come box. Place $10 on the don’t pass and,
after the point is established, lay $10 (single odds) behind your bet.
Then, place $10 in the don’t come box. When your don’t come number is
rolled, remove your $10 odds on the don’t pass. This bet was there to
protect your don’t come bet from a possible seven. If the seven rolled,
your $10 odds would cancel out the $10 don’t come and you would still be
$10 ahead from your don’t pass bet. Now that you have one don’t come bet
up, place one more in the don’t come box. If the seven rolls now, you
won’t lose anything, as your two bets will cancel out. Once your second
bet is up on a point, just wait for a decision. If you have $10 on the
don’t come and it moves behind a number, you can bet $5 (instead of $10)
don’t come. This way, if the seven rolls, you’ll lose $5 and still win
$5 on your don’t-come. You can protect your original don’t come wager by
betting one unit lower than your don’t pass bet. For example, if you bet
$10 don’t pass, you can place a $5 don’t come bet, instead of taking
odds on the don’t-pass. This way, if a seven rolls, you win $10 on the
don’t pass and lose your $5 don’t come, netting you a $5 profit. You can
hedge your established don’t come bets if they land on the 4, 6, 8 or 10
by using $1 hard way bets. If you have a don’t pass bet of $10 on the
ten, for example, and the hard ten hits, you win $9 and lose $10. If the
seven rolls, you win $10 and lose $1. Of course if the soft ten rolls
you lose $11, but the soft ten will only roll two times compared to 7
times for the combination of seven (six times) plus the hard ten (one
time). Don’t betting is very profitable once you get a point
established. These are several of the ways you can hedge your bets to
increase your winnings, while decreasing your risk. Give them a try the
next time you are in your favorite casino! And, as always, good luck at
the tables! |
