Game Boy Information
Red / Blue / Green / Yellow

Pokemon Red / Blue is a Gameboy game that came out in 1995 in Japan and is still rocking the world today as it is introduced into America. It's a role playing game with a new twist, you don't fight yourself, you fight using trained beasts called Pokemon.  Pokemon is also one of the few Gameboy games that uses the link cable to not only challenge other player but to trade Pokemon with other players. Professor Oak, a leading authority in all things Pokémon, gets you started by giving you one of three Pokémon; Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle. He also gives you a Pokémon encyclopedia called a Pokédex that he wants you to fill up with Pokémon information for him. You mission is to battle your way through the long and winding travels of the world of Pokémon. As you travel, you will have to catch as many Pokémon as possible. This is not an easy task, as you have other Pokémon trainers out there to stop you, including Team Rocket and your long time rival Gary.

Remember, Pokémon are not ordinary creatures. To collect all 150, you'll need to train captured Pokémon so they evolve. For instance, a captured Caterpie will evolve into a Metapod, which will then turn into a Butterfree. Each transformation adds more power to the Pokémon — giving you more power to defeat and capture other Pokémon.

Also keep in mind that some Pokémon are rare and won't be found in your game. The Red and Blue versions of the game each carry their own variety of Pokémon to defeat, collect, and train. To get all 150, trade Pokémon with your friends using the Game Boy Link Cable, which allows the transfer of Pokémon between Game Paks.

There are some interesting facts about this game that are often "telephoned" around the net as incorrect information; this is the correct information. In Japan Red and Green were the first to be released, then they released Blue. But in America it was Red and Blue which got released. What people don't know is that the American Blue is in fact the Japanese Green. The Japanese Blue version was not brought to America because it was known as the "boring" version. Many people say that the Japanese Green was not brought to America because it had advanced features included with it in the game, this is not true; because Green was brought to America as Blue. And Yellow is Yellow, it is the game based on the Television series that has struck the world. In the game you fight Jessie and James and your first Pokemon is Pikachu. There are new graphics and Pokemon statistics are different for this game.
